LaGrange, Indiana is the seat of LaGrange County. The town's population in the 2000 census was 2,919. LaGrange County is home to the third-largest Amish Community in the United States; approximately 37 percent of the county's population are Amish.
T.J. Tolan and Son designed the LaGrange County Courthouse, and Boseker and Begue built it. The cornerstone was laid in 1878 and the building was dedicated in 1879. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
