Indiana University Health Academic Health Center

Consolidation of University Hospital with Methodist and Riley Hospitals will provide greater efficiency and access to healthcare for Downtown residents. Clinical services will move to Methodist Hospital and all obstetrical and newborn care will be shifted to Riley Hospital. New facilities focusing on walk-in patients will be built. The expanded Methodist campus will include room for classrooms and offices for faculty of the Indiana University School of Medicine. It is possible that University Hospital could re-open as a rehabilitation center. The center will also have a medical education building to foster more collaboration between IU School of Medicine and IU Health. The project should take 5 - 7 years to complete.
