Jeffersonville port completes $1.1M in infrastructure improvements

More than $1.1 million in infrastructure improvements have been completed at the Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville.

The upgrades include a yearlong series of road and rail projects conducted by the Ports of Indiana and its rail switcher, MG Rail. Those projects include pavement work, milling and the repaving of a dockside area greater that 1.5 football fields.

MG Rail also renewed seven miles of track and 24 switches. Crews installed 1,500 tons of ballast and nearly 1,400 crossties. Worn rail was also replaced to accommodate more modern rail cars.
