Mixed-Use Project Underway in Columbus

Work has begun on a $40 million mixed-use development in downtown Columbus. The Republic reports the project will include approximately 200 market rate apartments and an urban grocery store.

Indianapolis-based Flaherty & Collins is developing the housing complex near the corner of Second Street and Lafayette Avenue. The publication says the developer will pay approximately 71% of the cost.

The city has agreed to invest $11.8 million into the development. It expects property tax dollars from the new complex will cover the public investment. Construction is expected to take 18-to-24 months.
